Madeira rises from the ocean like a green amphitheatre, and its capital Funchal sits right at the water's edge — the natural place to begin any exploration by sea.
A private trip with Chifbay casts off from the marina aboard our 2026 Karnic R8S. No queues, no strangers, no fixed script — just your group, a skipper who knows every cove, and a route built entirely around you.
Read our storyMadeira wine, poncha, beer and soft drinks served as you cruise. Bring only sunscreen and a swimsuit.
Cushioned seating, a swim platform and onboard music — fast, comfortable, built for easy water access.
A licensed captain who reads the sea, finds the calmest coves, and shapes every trip around your group.
Câmara de Lobos, the drone up at Cabo Girão, then swimming and paddle at Fajã dos Padres — the cove with no road in — and a flat-out ride home.
The same west-coast run taken as the light turns amber — drinks and food on deck, the drone up over Cabo Girão, and an open-throttle ride back into a lit-up Funchal.
From the sea the scale is a different thing entirely — a sheer wall of volcanic basalt rising 580 metres straight from the Atlantic, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. The route also passes Câmara de Lobos, the fishing village that drew Winston Churchill to paint.
Chifbay is one private boat and a local crew — not a fleet, not a marketplace. That's the point. The boat is yours alone, up to five guests, for one flat price rather than per person.
Quiet enough to hear the dolphins. Flexible enough to stay as long as you like at every stop. And run by a skipper who grew up on this coast and reads the sea each morning before you sail.

We had an absolutely amazing day on the boat. The friendly, professional crew, the delicious snacks and drinks, the relaxing swim — everything was perfect.
Hugo and Paco were a great pair — highly recommend to anyone visiting the island. A great trip from start to finish.
Sehr empfehlenswert! Father and son, incredibly helpful and dedicated to a beautiful day at sea. Many languages, and the tour shaped to us.
Every Chifbay trip leaves from Marina do Funchal, in the middle of the seafront and a few minutes' walk from the old town. Your skipper meets you on the pontoon — no office, no queue, no shuttle.
A private charter, not a shared group tour. Chifbay takes one group at a time — up to 5 guests — on a 2026 Karnic R8S with two skippers, departing Marina do Funchal. Choose a day trip with swimming and paddle at Fajã dos Padres, or a sunset cruise along the same coast.
From €400 for the 2-hour sunset trip to €600 for the 3-hour day trip with a filmed video — one flat price for the whole boat, not per person, for up to 5 guests.
Not usually. The price is a flat rate for the whole boat, so for two or more guests it can cost the same or less than separate tickets on a shared tour — and you get the boat, the route and the schedule entirely to yourselves.
A 2026 Karnic R8S — 9 metres, Mercury V8 300hp, cushioned seating and a swim platform — with two Chifbay skippers on board every trip. Up to 5 guests, private, never shared with another group.
Yes — there's a bathroom on board.
Local wine, poncha, beer, soft drinks and snacks, served on deck — included in the price on every trip, no extra charge.
Marina do Funchal, Pontoon C, next to the statue — on Madeira's south coast, a few minutes' walk from the old town. Arrive 15 minutes before departure.
Often, though it's never guaranteed — dolphins are seen regularly off Madeira's south coast and your skipper will slow down for a good look whenever they show up. It's wildlife, not a scripted stop, so timing is down to the ocean, not us.
